Full-Time Therapist – St. Louis Partnership for Survivors of Torture/ Care Access for New Americans

*Applicants interested in part-time positions will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

The therapist will deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health therapy as part of a multidisciplinary, trauma-informed, treatment team that serves immigrants and refugees in St. Louis city and county. The treatment team is Missouri’s only program specializing in torture treatment, offering wrap around services for torture survivors and their families. Services are provided in a variety of settings, either virtually, in office or in clients’ homes with either same language providers or interpreters.

The therapist must be able to:

      • Provide psychoeducation on different mental illness diagnoses
      • Understand and address somatic manifestations of mental illness
      • Assess for suicidal and homicidal risk and develop safety plans
      • Work sensitively and flexibly with interpreters as needed
      • Approach all clientele with cultural humility.

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the therapist will coordinate care with other team members including the project intake screener, case managers, attorney, and psychiatrist. A successful candidate will have knowledge of working with individuals, families, and groups in therapy. They will also have appropriate clinical licensure and training in evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Preference will be given to candidates with ability to provide therapeutic services in another language

Minimum Requirements:

      • Master’s degree in a mental health discipline from an accredited college or university
      • Provisional or Clinical license that is active and in good standing with respective licensing board
      • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable personal transportation
      • Successful completion of background check
      • Ability and desire to work in a highly diverse, fast-paced environment
      • Bilingual language skills and/or familiarity with working with interpreters is a plus.
      • Prior work with non-US born clients and/or work experience in developing countries is preferred.
