In 2014, agency therapists began serving refugee and immigrant children in St. Louis through the primarily school-based Project Safe Space: Trauma-Focused Mental Health Services for Refugee and Immigrant Children. Now known as Children & Youth Mental Health (CYMH), this innovative program continues to expand and currently provides services that include a comprehensive assessment with parental component, somatic-based interventions, and trauma reprocessing interventions for children in the many St. Louis area school districts as well as in select charter and parochial schools. All CYMH clinicians are trained in EMDR and ITCT and receive ongoing clinical consultation.
