Bilingual International Assistant Services invites you to mark the United Nations Day in Support of Victims of Torture with us one day early this year, on Thursday June 24 at 6:30pm as we welcome Dr. Barna A. Szabó. Join us to as Dr. Szabó shares a uniquely personal and professional perspective on the Hungarian Revolution at 65 and the dissident exodus that followed its brutal suppression. Dr. Szabó escaped Hungary as a student and ended up as a refugee in the U.S., where he would eventually teach at Washington University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering and Material Science. Presented in collaboration with the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum and the Missouri History Museum, the event will be hosted remotely via Zoom, the link to which can be found here on the History Museum’s website. Additional resources about the history of Hungary, prepared by Bilingual International’s own Ron Klutho, will also be made available.
